We will start our journey in the fascinating, alternative area of Athinas Street. You will be surrounded by the sounds, sights, and smells of the local food markets among streets full of multi-generational producers’ shops and small businesses. We will walk alongside Athenians who are doing their daily shop for fresh food.
Join us on a food extravaganza where we will sample a wide variety of our favourite street foods in the locals’ spots of downtown Athens.
We will meet in Monastiraki and then take a short stroll around the market area and the social life area (Psiri) stopping regularly for tastings and sit-down meals of our most loved street foods, all in places frequented by the local community.
We will visit one of the best souvlaki houses and sample their delicious pork or chicken skewers , eat a gyros washed down with Greek liquors such as raki and ouzo, local wine or fresh orange juice.
Visit a local fish taverna and taste fried calamari and small fish.
