One of my favourite hikes here is the Froussei Waterfall Trail, which winds through valleys before revealing a stunning cascade—something you don’t often see on Greek islands! Another fantastic route is the Panachrantou Monastery Trail, leading to a historic monastery perched high in the hills, offering sweeping sea views. For history lovers, the Dipotamata Gorge Trail takes you past centuries-old stone bridges and abandoned watermills, blending nature with the island’s past.
But Andros isn’t only about hiking. The island also offers canyoning adventures in Achla Gorge and access to secluded beaches like Zorkos and Vlychada, the perfect spot to rest and unwind after a long trek. If you’re looking for both outdoor thrills and relaxation, Andros delivers.
2. Samothrace – The Island of Waterfalls & Ancient Legends
For an island experience that feels wild and untouched, head to Samothrace (Samothraki) in the northern Aegean. The Stefanos Crater Walk is one of the most unique hikes in Greece. As you go down into the crater, you’ll see fumaroles releasing steam and smell the sulphur—an eerie reminder that the volcano is still active.
