At Food Around Athens, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We provide our guests with authentic culinary experiences while ensuring our practices support the local community and environment.
Supporting Small Businesses
We collaborate exclusively with small, local businesses that pride themselves on offering produce grown locally or within Greece. These collaborations support the local economy and ensure that the food we present is fresh, seasonal, and sustainable. By sourcing ingredients locally, we minimise transportation emissions and contribute to a smaller carbon footprint.
Eco-Friendly Wine Practices
The wine we offer on our tours comes directly from the barrel, eliminating the need for bottles, boxes, and other packaging materials. This approach significantly reduces waste and ensures that our guests enjoy the freshest possible wine straight from local vineyards.
No Food Waste
We take a proactive approach to minimising food waste. All leftover food from our tours is donated to the homeless community and fed to the local street cat population. This initiative reduces waste, supports those in need, and contributes to the well-being of Athens’ street animals.
Walking Tours
All our tours are conducted on foot, not by car or bus, significantly reducing our environmental impact. By walking, our guests can immerse themselves in the vibrant neighbourhoods of Athens, discovering hidden gems while minimising their carbon footprint. Walking tours promote a healthier lifestyle and allow for a more intimate city exploration. To that end, please bring a refillable water bottle with you as we do not buy plastic bottles of water unless we have to. We do offer several opportunities to refill your bottles.
At Food Around Athens, sustainable tourism is a responsibility. By integrating sustainable practices into our tours, we ensure that our guests have a memorable experience while positively impacting the environment and local community. Join us for a culinary adventure as kind to the planet as it is to your taste buds.
